Joyce June Mathews, 82, passed peacefully on Sunday, 9/3 surrounded by family. Joyce attended Mt. Herman Church in Elizabeth City and retired from Verizon. Joyce was a member of the Eastern Star Edenton Chapter. She lived In Hertford, NC and moved to Granny’s House Chesapeake, VA in Dec. 2013 and was well cared for until her passing.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Johnnie Mathews.
She leaves to cherish her memory son, Michael (Ann); daughters, Linda (Kim), Sheryl “Sherry” (Steve), and Melody (Chris); 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Sandy, Janet “Toot”, Dolly, and Marilyn. She will be missed tremendously.
A visitation will be held Friday, 9/8 at 10 AM with a service immediately following at 11 AM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502.
