Judy was a proud Navy wife and devoted mother to her two daughters. She shared a life with her beloved husband, Robert Smith, until his passing on February 17, 2009. Together, they built a family that Judy would later describe as “the great accomplishment of my life.”
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Tina VanMeter and her husband, Jeff, and Jill Sabourin; her grandchildren, Matthias VanMeter (Kyra), Allie Morton (Ryan), Kyle Sabourin (Rachel), and Ryan VanMeter (Autumn); and her great-grandchildren, Ryker and Cullen Morton and Mia Sabourin, who affectionately knew her as “Oma.”
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association or the Virginia Beach SPCA.
