John Kenneth (Ken) Fleming, a Commander in the Navy died while on active duty on Wednesday, May 13, in Norfolk, Virginia. Ken was the first-born son of Nancy and Raymond Fleming of Tallahassee, Florida. Known by K.J. to his friends, he attended Harvard University and received a M.A. degree in International Finance and Public Policy in 1995. After being commissioned by the Navy in 1998 he attended University of Virginia to teach Military History and earned a second M.A. in Asian Studies. KJ was most recently serving at Commander Surface Forces Atlantic. K.J. is survived by his loving wife Mayumi of nine years; his mother and father Nancy and Raymond Fleming; and his brothers Peter and Steve. His friends from all over the world are welcome to attend his funeral service at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, Virginia on Tuesday, May 26th from 5:00-7:00 pm and later to his burial at Arlington National Cemetery.
