During World War II, she performed clerical duties at Camp Patrick Henry, assisting with troop processing. She and her husband moved to Virginia Beach in 1953. She was an administrative assistant at Bush Construction for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of seventeen years, Eugene Murray Gallup, three brothers: Joseph E. Johnson, Vernon Keith Johnson, and Leroy Jonson; and three sisters: Nannie M. Harrell, Ida E. Sawyer, and Dorothy J. Boykin.
She is survived by two nieces, Shirley Britt of Virginia Beach and Diane Boykin of Newark, Delaware, and a nephew, Kenneth Johnson of Virginia Beach.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 2nd from 5-7pm, at Woodlawn Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10am, Thursday, March 3rd in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.woodlawnnorfolk.com.
