Kazuko Ichikawa Godfrey, 80, passed away in her sleep on June 2, 2012 while living with friends temporarily in Virginia Beach, VA., during renovation to her home in Norfolk. Kazuko Godfrey, a resident of the Oakdale Farms section of Norfolk, VA, for over 47 years was known as “Toni” by her many friends. Toni survived her spouse, Gene J. Godfrey and her eldest child, Michael Godfrey. Toni left behind a daughter, Catherine A. Yost, three grand-children, Brett Yost, age 30, Nobie Gordon Jr. age 25, Tiffany Yost, age 24, along with four great-grandchildren, ranging from 1-year to 5-years in age. Kazuko “Toni” Ichikawa Godfrey retained her citizenship from Yokohama, Japan, where she left behind her now deceased parents, father, Teiji Ichikawa, mother, Katsu Ichikawa along with several siblings. Kazuko Godfrey’s memorial service will be held in the Woodlawn Funeral Home located on Virginia Beach Blvd in Norfolk, on Monday, June 11, 2012 at 6:00pm.
