Lela O. West

Lela O. West, 85, loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother, went to be with our Lord on February 24, 2015. Lela was born in Williamston, NC but spent most of her life in Norfolk, Virginia. She was a homemaker when her son Chuck was young, but later worked for the YMCA, City of Norfolk and the State Health Department. She was a fantastic cook and loved to prepare and share meals and fellowship with her extended family. After her retirement she and her husband Roland enjoyed many trips in their RV with family and friends. They visited all 50 states including an extended trip to Alaska and Hawaii. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years Charles Roland West, her father and mother Willard and Gladys Harris. Left here to remember her beautiful smile and cherish her memory are her son Chuck, wife Sandy, grandson Ryan, brother Fred Harris and his wife Janet, brother Larry Harris and his wife Bobbie, Sister’s in Law Lula Bates and Telka Carroll, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army Norfolk or the charity of your choice.
