Leonard V. Wagner, Sr. "Popeye" passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008 surrounded by his family. Leonard retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service to his country.
Born in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Charles and Gertrude Wagner and was preceeded in death by his wife Helen M. Wagner. Left to cherish his memory are his 4 sons; Leonard V. and Judith Wagner, Jr. of Billings, MT., Stephen G. and MaryAnn Maroulis of Chesapeake, Robert A. and Carole Wagner of Knoxville, TN., and Eric A. and Lynn Wagner of Prince George County, VA. His 3 daughters; Virginia R. Leeper of Norfolk, Trudi Skidmore and Todd Ailstock of Norfolk, and Celia and Jay Bradshaw of Virginia Beach, along with 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, as well as his sister Lois Smith of Carson City, NV.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11:00a.m.at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Christus with full military honors provided by the U.S. Navy.
