Leonides Bulawin Galvan went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 24, 2023 in Virginia Beach, Virginia at the age of 89. She was born in Songulan, Dauis, Bohol in the Philippines on January 28, 1934 to Sotero Bulawin and Gertrudes Pingay Bulawin. Also known as Lillott, she attended Songculan Elementary School her elementary years, Holy Spirit School her high school/secondary years, then South Western University College of Nursing in Cebu, Philippines, the University of Santo Tomas College of Nursing and her residency at V. Luna General Military Hospital in Quezon City, Philippines. Lillott came to the United States in the 1960s to become a nurse in New York City. She was the head nurse at New York Infirmary, head nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Cabrini Medical Center and was the head nurse in the recovery room at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. After decades of working, she retired to both Virginia Beach, Virginia and the Philippines. Lily, as she is known to her friends in Virginia, enjoyed gardening everyday and going to church weekly where she cherished being with her fellow parishioners/friends. She also loved spoiling her cats, Precious and George.
She is predeceased by her husband Bernard Galvan, and brothers Antonio Bulawin and Rodolfo Bulawin. Lillott is survived by her son, Jaunffrey Galvan (Amy) and grandson, Riley Galvan of Raleigh, North Carolina; Janice Galvan Gille (Robert) and grandchildren: Catherine Gille, Victoria Gille and Andrew Gille of Virginia Beach, Virginia, all her loving Galvan family members, many nieces, nephews, cousins and other Bulawin relatives in the Philippines, close friends and acquaintances.
A visitation will be on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 6pm - 8pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 East Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502. Her funeral service will be on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 712 Little Neck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
