Keith went to his heavenly and eternal home on October 9, 2025, at the age of 68. Keith was born in Gastonia, NC. He lived most of his life in Norfolk, VA and several areas in North Carolina. His current home is in Chocowinity, NC. He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Johnson Greer; his great grandparents, Daddy Jim and Mamaw and Granny Izzy and Red; his grandparents, Dennis and Ruby Johnson and grandma and grandpa Greer; his youngest brother, T.C.; his grandson, Jeremy; and recently, his beloved son, Chad.
Keith leaves behind his loving, devoted wife and best friend, Linda. Together they shared a love of dancing, fun times on their boat, a try at "Glamping", and family time with their 8 children. Keith is survived by his children Murphy, Dennis, Ashley, Britt and Shelly. He is also survived by two stepchildren, Krista and Brandon, his father Murphy Lewis Greer, sisters Misty and Wendy, and brother, Jay along with several cousins and other family members. Keith has 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Keith was a talented musician and singer. He had the voice of an angel, and his love of music of all genres was broad. He played in bands, most recently "The Patriots" from NC, and he played guitar and sang in both solo and duo performances without a band. Keith had a passion for gospel music which continued throughout his life. His dad was instrumental in teaching him how to play guitar and sing when he was about 10 years old, and together they sang duets and solos, and traveled to various eastern coastal locations performing together and with other band members.
Keith was a successful entrepreneur and businessman primarily in the construction industry. He built everything from residential to commercial and heavy commercial structures. He believed in hard work, determination, honesty and family. He loved his Lord and Savior with all his heart. Those who knew him knew his sharp mind, sense of humor, and his unwavering spirit. He loved living life and accomplishing challenging projects that others may not have thought possible. He also trained his body and mind, he studied and worked to be awarded 3 different black belts in martial arts.
His legacy has been restoring his family's 1973 Chevy Nova Hatchback which is nearing completion. It provided many fun and memorable family times that his children remember and will carry forth in their dad's honor. Our wish is that future Greer generations know the strong work ethic and love for family and Jesus Christ that he lived every day and tried to provide as an example.
For those attending his graveside service, please honor his wishes to wear tastefully colorful attire.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity in his memory or to the American Liver Foundation. He had a very aggressive and rare type of liver cancer.
A Graveside Service is to be held Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 2pm at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are welcome to come and pay their respects from 1pm-1:50pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home.
