

Norfolk-- Lillian H. Koonce, 91, affectionately know as “Sitte”of the 9300 block of Beaumont St passed away peacefully in her home on February 26, 2008 surrounded by her family and friends. Lillian was a native of Ayden, North Carolina and moved to Norfolk in the mid 1950's. She was a well known and respected beautician. Lillian was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Sadie Hatch, her brothers Louis Hatch, Roger Hatch, Van Dyke Hatch, Edward Hatch and one sister Louise Mosley, one grandson Jackie Lee Caldwell and longtime family pet J.D. Lillian’s beloved survivors include three sisters, Elaine Harris and husband Bill of Ayden, North Carolina, Francis Galio and husband Henry of Slatington, Pa. and Victoria Hatch of Bristol, Tennessee. She has one brother, Roosevelt Hatch, of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Lillian has two children, a son, John Koonce and one daughter Cheryl Caldwell both from Norfolk, Virginia. She has four grandchildren that include Cheryl Watson of Stuart, Florida, Johnny Caldwell of Salvo, North Carolina, Eddie Caldwell, of Kill Devil Hill, North Carolina, and Diane Caldwell-Magnuson and husband Harold of Norfolk, Virginia. Three great grandchildren include Holly Watson of Norfolk, Virginia, Crystal Watson of New Braunfels, Texas and Seth Magnuson of Norfolk, Virginia. A Funeral service to celebrate Lillian’s life will be held on Friday February 29, 2008 at 1:00PM in the Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Woodlawn Funeral Home.
