Obituary of Lucille Davis Booth
Lucille Davis Booth was born January 17, 1914 in Shubuta, Mississippi, eldest daughter of William Edward Davis and Lura Long Davis. She grew up on the farm in Mississippi. She worked carding wool in a mill in Wetumpka, Alabama where she met Clifton Booth. She worked to send money home for her younger siblings to have more clothes and privileges as they grew up. Lucy and Clifton married June 3, 1939 in First Baptist Church Prattville, Alabama. They moved to Portsmouth, Virginia where children, Sandra and Herby were born; then moved to Norfolk, Virginia where she lived the next sixty-four years. Lucy was a member of Central Baptist Church over fifty years where she sang in the choir, worked in the Caring Center and taught three year old Sunday School Classes for many years through two generations. She enjoyed genealogy, researching her family history for many years and in many locations. As a senior she won a few ribbons in sports event competitions. She loved flowers and gardening. She was active in PTA. She always put others first. Alzheimer’s took over the past ten years though she lost her memory and ability to converse; she was smiling and happy as it took her worries and cares away. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and two sisters. She is also survived by her daughter and son in law, Sandra and Kenneth Loveless of College Station, TX; and son, Clifton Herbert Booth, Jr., of Norfolk, VA; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Rohach, Clifton Herbert Booth, III, Carol and Bonny Booth. Two great grandsons, Robert Earl Jackson, III, and Alex Rohach, one great great grandson, Reese Jackson, five sisters and two brothers. How fitting she went to meet her Lord and Savior early Sunday morning, October 10, 2010. A graveside service was held 11:00 a.m, Friday, October 15, 2010 in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
