

After graduating from Maury High School Len joined the United States Navy, serving his country for twenty eight years and retired in 1980 at the rank of Commander. He was then employed by General Physics and also attended Saint Leo College where he received a Bachelor's Degree He is survived by his wife of sixty nine years Carole Jeanne Carter, sister Elaine, three sons, Michael (Casey), Craig (JoAnn), Steven (Rose) and daughter Michelle (Robert), eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Len was a member of Oaklette United Methodist Church for sixty two years where he also sang in the choir. He devoted his life to helping others. He loved music, playing in several bands including the Khedive Temple Drum and Bugle Corps and the Tidewater Metro Band.
A visitation will be held on Monday June 9th from 5 p.m. -7 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held June 10th at 2 p.m with a reception following, all at Woodlawn Memorial Funeral Home in Norfolk. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation or Oaklette United Methodist Church in Chesapeake VA.
