Marlene was born in Middle Village Queens, NY to Herman and Margaret Bauerle on September 8, 1932. Her father always called her his “good luck” baby because after being out of work for nine months, he found a job when she was born. Marlene always excelled in school. She was only sixteen when she graduated from Newtown High. After graduating, she began a career as a secretary. Her first job was with the Baptist Home Mission Society. From this job, she went on to work for Citi Corp in Long Island City for ten years.
Marlene didn’t marry young like most women her age. Before she married, she enjoyed spending time with her oldest niece and nephew, being a Sunday school teacher at her church, spending time in church with her family and traveling with her friends. Finally, in 1959, she met the man she would spend the rest of her life with, George. They were engaged in 1960 and married on April 29, 1961. They began their married life together in a small apartment overlooking the Hudson River in Cliffside Park, NJ. Four years later they moved to Paramus, NJ where they started their own family with the birth of their son George Jr, and three years later they were blessed with the birth of their daughter Heidi.
With the birth of her son, Marlene changed careers and became a stay at home mom. She enjoyed watching her children grow up and taught and guided them along the way. She always had a strong faith and passed that faith on to her children.
George, her beloved husband of 60 years went to be the Lord on December 25, 2021. The pain from this loss became too much to bare. Marlene joined her husband in heaven on March 27th.
Marlene leaves behind her loving children George Jr and Heidi as well as a host of nieces and nephews who all miss “Mom-Mom” so deeply.
