Mary C. Scianna Riccio

Mary Riccio, 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family the evening of January 6, 2014. Mary was born July 10, 1919 in Jamaica, NY to the late Angelo and Jennie Scianna.

On August 15, 1937 she married Anthony Antonio Riccio. Anthony and Mary were married for 64 years until his death in 2003. Mary is survived by her four children, Angelo Riccio, wife Kim of Virginia Beach, Marie Davis, husband Robert of South Carolina, Annette Tuttle, husband Keith of Chesapeake, Anthony Riccio, wife Susan of Virginia Beach. She is also survived by a sister, Lena Consoli and brother, Anthony Scianna and wife Josephine.

Mary had so much love in her heart for her large Italian family including 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was gracious and warm towards everyone she met. The matriarch of her family, her legacy will live on in the stories and recipes that will be handed down for generations to come. She will be missed, but remembered always, for her great love of family, her beautiful smile and her loving soul.

A visitation will be held Wednesday evening at the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel in Norfolk from 6 to 8:30 pm.
