Miguel Manuel Olbes, 51, passed away in Virginia Beach on Sunday, September 3, 2023. Miguel was born in Millington, TN to Jean Olbes and the late Edgar Olbes. Miguel worked the majority of his life in the construction business as a carpenter. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, cooking, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his dogs. Miguel was a 1992 graduate of Kempsville High School and later took some courses in culinary school. He is cherished in memory by his stepmother, Susana Olbes; mother, Jean Olbes; children, Julie Emory and Delany Otis; siblings, Erik Olbes and his wife, Elaine, Sam Laskowski and her husband, Brian, and Natasha Olbes and her fiancé, Karhim Benu; nieces and nephews Zoie Olbes, Ean Olbes, Judah BenBenu, Gemma Laskowski, and Ayannah Olbes Benu; and a host of other significant family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his nephew Jace Laskowski.
There will be a Celebration of Life conducted at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Woodlawn Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family welcomes everybody back to the Woodlawn Funeral Home Reception Hall afterward to fellowship and share memories with the family.
