Nellie W. Jordan

Nellie W. Jordan, 90, a loving, cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother went to be with our Father in heaven on January 1, 2011. She was formerly a member of Temple Baptist Church in Norfolk, VA and attended Brandermill Church in Midlothian, VA.

Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James Kelly Jordan; mother, Margaret (Maggie) Ivey Wilson; father, John L. Wilson; brothers; Raymond Ivey, Elbert Wilson, Wilbert Wilson, Arrie Lee Wilson; sisters, Grace Wilson Barnes; Elizabeth Wilson Peele, Lina Wilson Smithwick, Evelyn Wilson Eure, Mary Gertrude Wilson Colson all of Hertford, NC; and grandson, James Kelly Richards of Virginia Beach, VA

Survivors include two daughters, Geneva J. Richards and her husband Jimmy of Virginia Beach, VA and Betty J. Bigger of Midlothian, VA; three grandchildren, Paul Leslie Liverman of Virginia Beach,VA, William Bradley Bigger of Morrisville, N.C. and Wesley Bruce Bigger of Midlothian, VA; six great grandchildren, Jimmy B. Richards, II, and Jennifer Noel Richards of Virginia Beach, VA; William M. Bigger and Hana Wenberg of Chester, VA; Carly Renee Bigger and Natalie Lynn Bigger of Midlothian, VA; a sister, Lottie Mae Wilson Lamb of Hertford, NC and a brother, John Fleetwood Wilson of Elizabeth City, N.C.

The family will receive family and friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norview Chapel where a celebration of Mrs. Jordan’s life will be held on Friday at 2 pm. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
