Nellie Iris Sanderlin

Nellie T. Sanderlin, 75, passed away in the loving care of her family on July 14, 2013. She was born to the late Lloyd C. and Ruby Talton on November 7, 1937 in Johnson County, North Carolina. She was one of eight children.

Nellie met James Sanderlin in 1982, and after 3 years of courtship they and married on May 21, 1985, where they loved their combined family together. Combined, they had a total of nine children, who were the joy of their lives. She enjoyed sunshine and gardening. Nellie also loved to pass time with family and friends by attending the local flea markets, watching old western movies and baseball games; but most of all she loved her husband.

She was a faithful employee at Be-Lo Food Stores, where she worked in the Deli Department for 30 plus years retiring in 2005. She enjoyed attending Riverside Baptist Church until the time of her passing.

Nellie leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 28 years, James Sanderlin; nine children Toni Steele Patricia Fretwell, Sandra Boyce, Katherine Mancil, Dianna Shankle, Gloria Sanderlin, Ronald Sanderlin, James Sanderlin Jr., and David White; Twenty grandchildren, Twenty great-grandchildren; Four sisters Pansy Alston, Marie Bailey, Mary Lee Phelps, and Polly Anne Kelly; One brother Lloyd Talton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 17, 2013, 1:45PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. 6329 East Virginia Beach Blvd. 23502.
