Nelson Marion Hollandsworth

Mr. Hollandsworth was born in Lamport, Colorado and was preceded in death by his parents John and Claira Belle Hollandsworth and by his wife Grace Evelyn Hollandsworth. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer and from the Norfolk Public Schools as an electrician. His military career included numerous engagements at the Battle of The Coral Sea, Midway and Surigao Strait. He was one of the survivors of the USS Yorktown that was sunk at Battle of Midway on June 7, 1942 on his birthday.

Survivors include two sons, Nelson Hollandsworth, Jr. and wife Linda, Philip Hollandsworth and wife Zoya, eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016, 11am with full military honors at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
