Paul Edward Briggs, 80, passed away on January 1, 2026. Paul was born in Norfolk to the late Clarence "Bud" and Sara Elizabeth "Betty" Briggs. He proudly served his country with the United States Navy as a Seabee during Vietnam. Paul continued to serve his community as a Pumping Station Supervisor with the city of Chesapeake Public Utilities. He had a strong faith and was an active member of Tidewater Central Church of the Nazarene and later Chesapeake First Church of the Nazarene. While he had an awful habit of losing his keys and had an ongoing fight against all things technology based, he had a big heart and a beautiful tenor singing voice. He was an avid supporter of his Veteran Affairs brothers and the local food bank.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Margie; his daughters, Lisa Renee Wood and Regina Lynn Dawson; grandchildren, Kyle Edward Teague, Cameron Wade Wood, Genoa Marie Benecke, Deanna Lenee Genthe, Logan Alexander Spruill, and Bret Alexander Dawson; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his Mother, Father, brother, Gary L. Briggs, and his furbaby, Mitzi.
The family invites friends to a time of visitation on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 from 3-6 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk.
