

Pauline B. Gardiner, 76, of the 3700 Block of Newport Avenue, Norfolk, passed on Wednesday, March 30, 2016. She was born on July 15, 1939, to the late George and Mordie King in Jacksonville, North Carolina. She was a retired Bank Adjuster for Bank of America, where she served 30 years. She was also a 1958 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and attended Norfolk State College business degree program.
But most importantly of all, she was a strong devout woman of God: Praying, fasting for families and many individuals alike. Never wavering from her belief in God and her faith; always encouraging others to believe in God and have faith in Him--a just and honorable woman of great integrity, and powerful spiritual warrior that will be sorrowfully missed.
Pauline was also an avid cook, who loved to be a great hostess to family, friends and guests. She often had cookouts and traditional holiday meals. She was known for pulling out all stops.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Noel H. Gardiner, whom she married on February 7, 1976 in Norfolk, Virginia; two sons: Cosell Barnes of Norfolk and Nardell Barnes (Cheril) of Chesapeake; two daughters: Tonia Barnes Leslie of Stone Mountain, Georgia and Yokita Gardiner of Norfolk; Nine Grandsons: Michael Brown, Bruce King, Brian King, Harry F. Hill, Jr., Teryl Hill, Cortez Barnes, Treque Leslie, Gabriel Leslie and Jeremy Leslie; Six Granddaughters: Kesha K. Grimes, Malade K. Morris, Taniesha K. Hill, Micaiah Leslie, Anya Crockett and Adeja Harris; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents; four brothers and four sisters, Pauline was predeceased in death by two daughters: Constance “Connie” King and Juniecia “Nieci” King Hill.
