Born to the late Terence and Marcella Scully, Ray grew up in Jacksonville, NC, where he embraced life as a free spirit early on. Surfing the waves and making music quickly became the deep-rooted passions that defined his journey. After living in several places, he ultimately found his home and settled in Virginia Beach.
A guitarist at heart, Ray loved playing with as many people as he could. His vibrant spirit extended beyond his music—he had a deep love for his friends, enjoyed spending time gardening, and held a very special place in his heart for children. Ray’s memory will be forever cherished, and his joyful, energetic soul will continue to inspire all who knew him. Rock on, Ray!
Left to cherish his memory are his moral compass, Bonnie; his daughter, Jamie; his brother, James; his sister, Patricia Crumbley (Robert); his niece, Taylor Crumbley; his nephew, Kyle Crumbley (Ivey); his great-niece, Harley Crumbley; along with a multitude of beloved Canadian relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Terence and Marcella Scully, and his nephew, TR Crumbley.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, November 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, located at 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ray's honor to Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters (CHKD).
