Rebecca L. Chatham born March 12, 1942 in Owosso, Michigan passed away October 18, 2011. Raised in a small farm town near there, Elsie, MI where she did all her schooling K through 12. This is where so many of her lifelong friends still remain today. She graduated with the class of 1960 from EHS. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary in July of 2000. What a wonderful journey. Growing up in Elsie she was a member of the Methodist church there and participated in many youth activities over the years. One of her favorite passages is: Jerimiah 29:11 - "for I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." In 1993 she met a very nice man, Larry Cears. In 1995 they became a couple and have lived ever since in the home on Tyson Road, Virginia Beach. Over the years she learned a lot about his Native American Ancestry and culture. It was so very nice for him to share this with her. She wanted to say a special thank you and au revoir. Becky was terribly fond of her Senior Bowling Leagues looking to every Monday and Friday morning at Pinboy's at the beach at Hilltop. What great people and great fun. Her friends were so numerous. From East to West and North to South she had made some very wonderful friendships. She wanted to say thanks for sharing your lives with her.
Becky was predeceased by her parents Gordon and Dora McCullough. She has lost many other relatives along the way as well. One special little boy was her nephew Randy Clark who died of brain cancer back in December 1978 at the age of 13. Becky's husband Leroy Chatham, Sr. passed in June, 1991 after 28+ years of marriage. Remaining behind are her son, Leroy F. Chatham Jr.; her sister Dixie Clark and husband Beryl of Owosso, MI; brothers Gene McCullough of Owosso, MI and Lonnie McCullough and wife Janice of Elsie, MI; three grandchildren Jenifer Contreraz of Chesapeake, Mathew Chatham, and Becca Chatham both of Jacksonville, FL; and two great-grandchildren that she dearly idolized, Logan and Kayla Contreraz.
