Richard J. Gibson

Norfolk – Richard James “Rick” Gibson, 57, passed away at home on Thursday, February 9, 2017 after a difficult battle with cancer. He was born to the late Paul L. “Pappy” and Lucille “Teeny” Gibson on March 2, 1959. Rick, a native of Norfolk, went to school and worked in the area his entire life. For the past 20+ years, he worked as a warehouse manager for Southern Plumbing and with a group of people he considered his second family.

Rick was a big man with an even bigger heart. He was one of those rare individuals who was always there when friends needed him and whose generosity knew no bounds. He brightened the lives of everyone around him and radiated enthusiasm and positivity.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Pappy and Teeny; and brother, Gregory Paul Gibson.

He is survived by his sister Carol Gibson Benton, brothers Joe Michael Gibson and Steven L. Gibson, and children Jennifer and Rick.
