Robert Kenneth Aughenbaugh, age 80, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, entered eternity on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lex Alfred and Grace Theresa Aughenbaugh, as well as his two sisters and brother.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard and was deployed to Vietnam during the war. His service reflected a lifelong sense of courage, duty, and honor.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. After retiring from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) and later from Sentara as an auditor, Robert spent countless hours gardening and creating a welcoming habitat for the native birds of southeastern Virginia.
He found great joy in time spent with his family—especially his grandsons, Calvin and Owen—and treasured the many hours working alongside Calvin in the garden. Robert also deeply enjoyed attending Old Dominion University football and basketball games with his late wife, where they were both proud alumni.
Robert is survived by his son, Erik Aughenbaugh; his daughter, Amy; his son-in-law, Sean Turconi; and his grandsons, Calvin and Owen Turconi.
A graveside service will be held on October 16, 2025, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, Virginia 23502, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
