Robert Walker

Robert Walker is survived by his loving wife, Jerldene Walker, and three daughters Vanetta Myrick (MD), Juanessa Harris (Jerry) (VA), Andra Chapman (VA), and a brother, Donald Walker (OK). He is blessed with six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by a brother, Charles Walker, Jr (Norma), and sister, Charlesetta Walker of Oklahoma.

Robert Walker was born on October 22, 1933 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Mary Johnson and Charles Walker, Sr. He graduated from Huston-Tillotson University in May 1954 with a Bachelor’s degree in Music. He married Jerldene Duncan, his college sweetheart in June 1954. Soon after marrying, he joined the United States Navy, where he served for 22 years as a radioman, then a first class electrician. After retiring in 1976, he spent another 21 years working for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

A funeral is scheduled for noon, Friday, December 9, 2022, at First Baptist Church Lambert’s Point (1268 W 38th St, Norfolk, VA), with a reception to follow the interment at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Marcia Murphy will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Robert Walker's life.
