Robert “Bob” Yates, Sr., 86, passed away at home on June 20, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Hiawatha and Mildred Yates. Hiawatha, Bob’s Dad, had the honor of swearing him into the military at age 17. After entering the US Army he met and was captured by the love of his life Susi E. Panitz. Bob served multiple tours of duty overseas including, Korea, Germany, and Iran. He retired from the US Army after 23 years of service. While in the service he attained his G.E.D. which he was very proud of. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Walter Yates.
Left to cherish his memories is his loving wife Susi E. Yates; a son Robert Yates Jr.(Joanna); a sister Mildred Anne Jones; brother Milton Yates; grandchildren Brittany E. McMichael (Caton), Ashley N. Katz (Sean), Christopher D. Yates.
