Roberto "Bert" Munoz Milan

Roberto “Bert” Muñoz Milan, US Navy (Ret), 87, passed away on July 4, 2017. Bert was born in Manila, Philippines to the late Silvestri Milan and Isabella Muñoz Milan. Bert proudly served in the United States Navy from 1957 - 1977. While stationed in Hawaii, he met and married Julie Olarti. Bert was active in the Filipino Community as a member of The Samahang Tagalog, The Council of United Filipino Organization of Tidewater, and The Ilocano Association.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Julie, four children; Susan (Bill) Perron, Robert Milan, Geraldine (Carey) Dietsch, and Jenniffer (Roy) Moreno; nine grandchildren: Anna Marie Perron, Angela (Andrew) DeMeritt, Robert Perron, Christina (Keith) Rhodes, Janine Moreno, Raphael Moreno, Roderic Moreno, Reginald Moreno, and Dallas Dietsch; two great-grandchildren: Madison and Mason DeMeritt: brothers: Rodolfo (Basila) Milan and Adriano (Sylvia) Milan; sisters: Adela (Bonifacio) Fontanilla and Virginia Domingo, and Sister-in-law Neri Milan and brother-in-law Feliciano Francisco, and many nieces and nephews in the Philippines, California, and Virginia.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Friday, July 7, 2017 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA. The Funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday July 8 at 10:00 AM at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Virginia Beach, VA with burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
