OBITUARY
Rockie Lee Davis Vann
May 9, 1927 – April 23, 2013
Rockie Lee Davis Vann, died April 23, 2013. She was the daughter of Richard and Maggie Taylor Davis and the widow of Ivey Mason Vann.
Mrs. Vann, a native of Seaboard, NC stayed in touch with her childhood church, Galatia Baptist Church. She retired from Larchmont Elementary School in 1989 after 29 years with Norfolk Public Schools as a Teacher Specialist and Classroom Teacher. She was a former member of the Retired Teachers’ Association, NEA, past member of Alpha Lamba Society, and attained the College Degree in the Women of the Moose, Norfolk Chapter 157 where she served as Senior Regent and other positions through the years supporting Mooseheart “Home for the Children” and “Moosehaven” Home for the Seniors. She was a member of Spurgeon Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth and wife Cynthia and Steven and wife Nancye; sister, Estelle Butler of Claxton, GA; and many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her love of family, friends, faith in God and her sincere kindness.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sat, April 27, 2013, at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Vann was our daughter's teacher at Larchmont school and she loved her. She cared for her students like a mother or grandmother, teaching them gently and lovingly, but always making sure that each one learned their lessons well. Our condolences to her family.

Rockie was such a sweet and loving person..and such a good cook..I remember Ivey saying that if you were in the company of Rockie you would not go hungry..I will miss her so very much..

Rockie was my great Aunt and I will never forget the extraordinary effort she would take to make her family a priority. She was such a genuinely warm person and I know our family will miss her dearly.

My Mother and Rockie's sister Estelle wants everyone to know that Rockie was a wonderful sister and is already missed very much. Mother insisted on going to the funeral and with Lynne's help will see everyone before and at the funeral.
