Ronald Roy Bushey, Sr., lovingly known as Ron, passed away on August 30, 2026, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 89.
Born in Bangor, Maine, to Peter and Parchie DiSalvatori Bushey, Dad devoted 31 years to the United States Navy, retiring as a Senior Chief. He continued his career as a Logistics Analyst for another 15 years and earned his Master’s degree. He was a lifelong learner who loved sharing his knowledge and wisdom with his family.
Dad was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Louise Bushey; his parents; and his siblings Jimmy, David, Tony, Duke, and Kitty.
He leaves behind his children, Archie (Paula), Vicki (Jim), Ronnie, and Charlie; grandchildren Kaelyn (Brandon), Rachel (Emilio), and Sarah (Caleb); and great-grandchildren Olivia, Lenny, and Teddy.
Above all his accomplishments, Dad’s greatest legacy was his family. He loved us with everything he had and always made sure we were taken care of. He was our rock, our protector, our teacher, and our hero.
Dad was Catholic and knew Jesus. His faith was an important part of his life, and we find comfort knowing that he is now home with the Lord.
Dad loved celebrating life and creating memories. Christmas Eve was always reserved for family, Sundays were centered around being together, and family dinners brought us around the table. He loved traveling and exploring the world and passed that adventurous spirit on to his children.
He always encouraged us to try new things, saying, “Always try it. You'll never know what you like otherwise.” He loved old westerns, classic war movies, good food, traveling, exploring, and making his family laugh. He was the jokester of our family.
Dad had an enormous heart and was generous to others, lovingly supporting ministries and children. He taught us to care for one another, give generously, embrace life, and put family first.
We will miss his voice, his stories, his laughter, his wisdom, and his jokes. Most of all, we will miss simply knowing that Dad was there.
But his love will live on in every generation, in the traditions he created, the lessons he taught, and the memories we will forever hold close.
Dad, you were our rock. You were our teacher. You were our protector. You were our hero. Most of all, you were Our Dad.
We love you more than words can say. Until we meet again, Dad.
Rest peacefully with Jesus.
Your children, Archie, Vicki, Ronnie & Charlie
Funeral services will be held privately with family.
In place of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a charity or ministry of your choice in Ronald’s memory.
