Ruth Ann Willis

She was a loving mother to Alisia Elaine VanHorn, Pamela Annette Lewis, and Ruth Ann Chappell. She also shared a bond with her stepson, Tony along with her “bonus” children, Terri, Becky and Buddy. She was a cherished grandmother to Michele (Robert), Philip (Kristy), Gary Lee (Teresa), Ray, Brandon (Jia), David (Meghan),and AJ.

Ruth was blessed with many great-grandchildren: Alex (Brittani), Savannah, Travis, Jorden, Caylee, Josh, Samantha, Wesley, Summer, Ava, Penelope, Taylor, Phoebe, Lily, and Gianna. She was also a proud great-great-grandmother to River and Rynli, with two more on the way.

Ruth was preceded in death by her children, Margaret and Wesley, her husband, Wesley Paul Willis Jr. (Paul), her parents, Blaine and Gertrude Elkins, and many other loved ones.

Ruth was a dedicated bookkeeper at Commercial Radio Service for over 25 years. She was an active member of the Women of the Moose (966) and the Loyal Order of the Moose (898), where she earned her Star Recorder and Collegiate Degree. Ruth and Paul shared a love of bowling, traveling, and enjoying time with the Brewers and their Moose Lodge friends.

Ruth’s warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends will be deeply missed. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk. The family invites you to a time of visitation prior to the funeral beginning at 12 noon. Ruth will be laid to rest beside her loving husband at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. Following her committal, the family invites you to a time of fellowship and refreshments to continue the celebration of Ruth's life at the Moose Lodge, 1400 George Washington Hwy N, Chesapeake, VA 23323.
