To the Beiler FamilyThe EVANGEL of a couple weeks ago had a notice about Samuel Beiler's death at age 92 in Florida. This brought back some very wonderful memories from over 50 years ago! Bro. Beiler held revival services at our church - First Assembly of God at Lonaconing, Maryland in January 1961. This revival was one that we would not ever forget. Even though it was in the dead of winter, the revival went on and on. I think Bro. Beiler was there for a couple weeks and then our pastor Bro. Chas Fussell called in another evangelist Bro John Hammerchek and the services went on for more weeks - the longest on record. People would come every night anticipating what God would do - even in very deep snow. I'm not sure the number but I know it was well over a dozen young people received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I thank God that Bro. Beiler was there and called our folks to a closer walk with God. We enjoyed his stories of his Amish upbringing. My condolences to the family.  Ruth

Uncle Sammy was a funny, easy going, loved everybody, and Godly man. It was always a good time at the Beiler house. Some of my most memorable summers were spent there. Thanks, Uncle Sammy

When I first met Grandpa Sam when Marshall and I were to be married, I instantly saw why Marshall was so very fond of his grandfather and why he spoke so highly of him. He made me laugh, made sure Marshall was "treating me right," and also got to the heart of the matter when it came to life, love, marriage, and God. His love for Jesus and his family is an inspiring legacy, one which you can clearly see has made a major impact on his family and has kept the Beiler family rooted in Christ and bound together with love, no matter how far apart they are from each other. He will be missed greatly and I am thankful we had the opportunity to be with him this past May one last time.

Grandad will always hold a special place in our hearts. When Tammy and I were newly engaged he took us to the beach in his little red hatchback. If you ever drove with grandad you knew it was the ride of a lifetime. When we arrived at our destination I still remember Tammy saying, "Please don't make me get back in that car." He was a gentleman in every sense of the word and treated everyone he knew as if they were a long lost friend. Walkling the beach with him was also an experience as he knew so many people and they loved to come up and talk with him. He was a true  man of God and we will miss him dearly but look forward to our reunion in Heaven.

I knew Sammy (that's what we always called him) from the time I was a little girl, since he married my oldest sister Margaret.  Sammy was like the older brother I never had, we would tease each other, run through the house, slam the door to keep the other out (even broke the glass in the kitchen window once) and mother would cringe!  But we had a great time, he even took me to work with him when he drove a laundry truck.  As I grew older got married and had a family of my own, Sammy was always there ready to lend an ear, or tell a story.  He was much loved.  He lived a good honorable life and I am sure when he got to heaven he heard the words we all long to hear, "Welcome home, good and faithful servant".

I met Mr. B in recent years. With those glimpses and Margie's wonderful stories, I got to know and appreciate Mr. B and just how extraordinary he was. He touched many lives including mine and will be missed.

Granddaddy Beiler, as I knew him through cousins Davy, Erica (Beiler) Aikin, and Jonathan, was a kind, loving, and gentle soul. I can only recall meeting him two times but that was certainly enough for me to know and understand why he was loved so much, by so many.

My dear, beloved Granddaddy! Words cannot encapsulate the man he was to me and everyone else. He was the "Good Granddad" who took his granddaugher to McDonald's at the age of 3 or 4 upon request...a name I gave him when telling him that "good Granddads" take their granddaughter to (insert place)  ;-) and the same one who let me take him out in my teen years and 20s. The Granddaddy (and Grandma) with whom I stayed one summer while interning at CBN. The Granddaddy I had the honor and privilege of visiting at least once a week when he lived here in GA- something I treasure greatly as I had never lived near any of my grandparents until these latter years prior to his move to Jacksonville last year. It was so much fun to watch him interact with my son; he was always so excited to see Daniel and play with him. And Daniel LOVED visiting Granddaddy!Granddad was and continues to be inspiring! He lived life in a state of "in everything, give thanks" to the fullest. As anyone who knows him knew he was often lost in spiritual thought and saying you, "praise you, Lord" and "thank your, Jesus" with hands uplifted even in the middle of the worse newscast! :) completely lost in his love for his Saviour. He was steadfast; a confidant; an advisor & mentor; loving & kind towards me and others. I watched as he exemplified forgiveness and unconditional love for every person he encountered. He was giving and selfless. I sat for hours listening to his stories- stories of his Amish childhood and rumspringa; his encounter with Christ which led to salvation; his experiences at sea with the Navy; his years of minsitry; his love for his family and the adventures they had together; his love for fishing; his chaplaincy witht the the police and blowing bubbles to cut the rising tension on the boardwalk one night; and so much more.... I saw firsthand his selfless love for his beloved Margaret - an example he set for his children and his children's children. Together they built a legacy which carries on through the lives of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.I am truly humbled to be Sammy's granddaughter and to be a part of his amazing family.I am heartbroken that Granddaddy is gone from this present world. I'm in tears that I will never again watch he and my son Daniel play together. And I can't help but smile as I think about the look on Granddad's face as he entered the Throne Room of God and fell on his knees before the King of Kings, Creator of Earth, and Lord of Hosts. I can only imagine his voice as uttered for the very first time the Name that is above all other names while in the very presence of Christ Jesus Himself.Praise be to God...and as Granddad would say, "Thank you, Jesus. Praise you, God. I love you, Jesus."May God's Grace and Peace be ever-present in each of our lives, and may we strive to have an ounce of the intimate relationship with God through Christ Jesus that Granddad had. Be inspired. Love Christ. Obey God, and know that He carries us in the very palm of His hands. One day, we too, will be in His presence!!

Thank you Daddy for all you were to me and to many others.  You were an awesome dad, a great husband, an wonderful pastor, a caring humanitarian, and a faithful man of God.  You touched so many, and you are very much missed by all who knew you... for to know you was to love you!

So blessed to meet Rev. Beiler at the wedding of his namesake David Beiler to our daughter Amy. He quickly melted our hearts with his love for God and his family, his laughter, and his storytelling. We feel blessed having known him and sharing family together.  You are in our prayers as you feel his loss here, but rejoice that he is with Jesus.

We have such fond memories of Sam.  He was a joy to be with and a real inspiration and encouragement to us as younger ministers just starting out in the ministry! He was a great help to us!  His kindness is always remembered with love.Susan & Wendy Hodges

Margie, I don't know if you will recall that Sam & David went with our group the Oasis Ministry to I.W. Davis Correctional Institute once. Sam gave us a glimpse into his life from a young boy and the challenges he faced for his faith. Very encouraging and fascinating, we wanted to hear more but just not enough time. To the Beiler Family - our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time, praying Father's comfort to each of you in your loss. When I think of Uncle Sammy so many fond memories come to mind.  Uncle Sammy performed my and Robert's wedding ceremony in 1972, which for us, is probably the most personal memory we have.  Whether with his family or behind his pulpit, you knew Uncle Sammy loved Jesus; he's left quite a legacy, and I'm richer for having had him as my Uncle.

Oh my...Sam surely left a mark on my heart.  Here at Elmcroft at Timberlin Parc each day Sam would get going with his daily sheet and go with the flow with whatever activities where taking place each day.  He especially like the spiritual activities when choirs would come and spend time with us.  He would always be front and center and he would just beam!!!!!  He touched them as much as much as they touched him.  What a wonderful man who lived his faith. I only had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Sam in his later years, but he was still just as wonderful!! He had such a kind spirit, and passed that on to such a wonderful daughter. I'm just glad that through David I had the pleasure to meet Mr.Sam. ;)

I love and miss my Dad.  He was the best - as the only daughter - I was always his "favorite daughter"  :-)He was always my "favorite dad"He is always in my heart.

I loved Rev. Sam for a very long time. He was also one of my Police Chaplains and I have greatly missed him since his retirement. His faith in and the Lord and his life lived for Him were an inspiration to anyone who would look and see the living testimony. I thank our Lord that Rev. Dear Beilers all, Sam and Marvin were fellow ministers, friends and golfing buddies. Sam was our pastor for years. He and Marvin died on the same day. Perhaps they arrived at the gates together. I have many good memories of Sam and Margaret and the times we spent together. Sam sacrificed willingly for the Lord and had wonderful teles to tell of the way the Lord revealed himself to him. I have often thought of him in recent years and wondered how things were going with him. I hope he and my husband are having a great reunion.

Sam and Margaret were our first pastors when we began our marriage here in VB. So faithful to God's call on their lives. When we missed a service due to car problems, they were at our door the same afternoon! He and Chaplain Snyder will enter heaven together.
