Shelley was the sister I never had. Her humor, warmth and wisdom helped me cope with my ups and downs through the years. Her love for Eric, her sons, her sisters and brother and the light of her life, Elina, showed all of us how it's done. She's at peace now and she will always be a blessed memory to all of us.

When I think about Shelley I remember the first time I met her in Greenville, NC. A precious, vibrant young college student. And then the last time I saw her, some 50 years later sitting with her on her couch talking and laughing for half the night. And all the sweet memories in between. Shelley was one of the sweetest, smartest, kindest, most sincere person I have ever known. I just cannot grasp the fact that she is no longer here but I rejoice that she now knows what we all long for sitting with God and her wonderful mother and daddy. No more pain.
My heart is broken for the loss of her but my life is richer for knowing her.
Eric, boys and Burton’s stay strong until you see her again. I love you all. ❤️❤️❤️

I am absolutely heartbroken to hear of Shelly's passing. I have known Shelley all of my life, growing up across the street from her family in West Park View and attending school together from 1st to 12th grade. She was one of the most caring and genuine individuals I have ever known. Although we had not been in contact too much in later years whenever we did connect memories of the old days came flowing back, which I will always cherish.

Rest in Peace dear friend.

Eric, Jahn Mychal & Ryan,
Shelley was the absolute sweetest person on the planet. . . I remember many weekends when we would get together at each others house and hang out... Those were the best times!!! In my adult life and professional life I came to know Jan and it reminded me of just how small this world really is… No truer words have been said when you hear, "We lost an angel here on earth and Heaven received one of our greatest!" You are all in my thoughts and prayers during the coming days and please know if there is anything that you need from us, please give us a call. Love always, Brande (Sawyer) & Tracy Rumpf

We played basketball
We were on the school paper (both creative)
We were thespians
And, we got called to the principal’s office to get our sisters out of trouble
We were friends forever
I am deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved Shelley. I pray that God’s mercy be with you during your grief, and as you navigate towards the celebration of her new life.

It was with deep sadness I learned of Shelley's passing into eternal life. I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathy to the Fox and Burton Families. Shelley and I attended elementary and high school together. I do not know if she was named after the English poet, but I do know she wrote wonderful prose. Shelley was a great basketball player for Portsmouth Catholic. Her vibrant personality created fond memories of when we were young adults. I will always remember her warm smile, her golden hair, the twinkle in her eye and her quick wit! May the Holy Spirit, The Great Comforter, grant her Family and friends healing, hope and consolation as they mourn the loss of this beautiful soul! Shelley, may God bless you, keep you and hold you for eternity in His loving embrace.
In faith and love I remain,
Pam Connaughton (Teachey)
