Shirley Ann Alexander

Blessed is the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, whom in his infinite wisdom called our mother, aunt, friend, Shirley Ann Alexander to eternal rest on September 7, 2020. Mrs. Alexander was born March 15, 1937 in Salisbury, NC, to the late Robert and Myrtle Reid. She attended Aggrey Memorial High School in Landis, NC. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, sewing, ceramics and playing Pokeno. She was a long time member of St Johns AME Church in Virginia Beach, VA. She served on the Emanuel Usher Board, Steward Board and Missionary Society. She was a medical transcriptionist at Lincoln Hospital, Bronx, NY and Norfolk Community Hospital. Finally, retiring from a private medical practice in Norfolk, VA. She married her High School sweetheart, Joseph "Frank" Alexander, and the union lasted 61 years. That union was blessed with a Son, Percy Alexander and a Daughter, Connie Alexander (Michael). In addition to her children, Shirley leaves to cherish her memory, 2 Sisters, Kay Wilkerson (Bobby) and Pamela Reid, Grandchildren, Chandra and Shameka Alexander, Percy Alexander Jr (Percy's Children), Alexander Lemos (Connie's Son), 2 special nephews, Eugene Wilkerson and Austin Dembo (Pam's Son), Great Grandchildren, Sage, Trinity, Trinton, Ariana, London, Alex Jr, Isabella, Jaylen and a host of other relatives and friends. Treasured memories of Shirley Alexander will continue to dwell in all of our hearts. Shirley's service will be private due to COVID restrictions.
