Skylar Amos Stevenson, departed this life on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 in Odenton, MD. Skylar was born in Annapolis, MD on November 23, 2015, to Katrish and Amos Stevenson Jr. Skylar initially attended Beaver Creek Pre-K where he met several friends that would develop into life-long friendships. There he would be loved and nourished by his teachers to help prepare him for his kindergarten years. As he showed throughout his life, during the graduation ceremony Sky was so happy and proud of his accomplishments, when it was Skylar’s turn to take the stage to accept his diploma, he looked for his parents in the crowd and gave them the thumbs up saying, “mission accomplished.”
At the age of 5, Skylar would follow in his sister’s footsteps by playing baseball. If you knew Skylar, you knew he loved to run everywhere, but not on the baseball field. Sky would hit the ball and skip to first base as everyone yelled, “run Skylar run!” It was frustrating to say the least, but man was he adorable. The fall season however, was a different story. This was the season where he became a dog and ran every base and went for every ball. In short, Sky gave us a lot of thumbs up that season.
In addition to baseball, Skylar started Kindergarten at Piney Orchard Elementary in the Fall of 2021. It was a new school, in a new area, and we were afraid for him. Nevertheless his bright
smile and calm demeanor attracted kids to him and he quickly made new friends. Skylar loved his time at Piney Orchard where he began to learn and develop quickly. With the love and dedication from his teacher Mrs. Vause, Skylar developed a love for learning.
Skylar was a warm and loving child who adored his family, especially his sister “BB.” They shared a special connection. It was amusing to watch them fuss and quickly make up. Skylar was taught to always show and say “I love you.” This was one phrase that became contagious in the Stevenson household. He was an amazing child with an advanced vocabulary. He would use words such as actually and frustrated, and he knew how to use them correctly. Sky had a broad imagination where he spent his days pretending to be Marvel Characters. It began with Iron Man, then he moved on to Captain America where he would say “you can just call me Cap.” Finally, he fell in
love with Spiderman. His love for the character was shown by his selection of toys, clothing, blankets etc.
Skylar leaves to cherish his memory, his loving parents Katrish and Amos Stevenson Jr., his sister Breeze Patterson; his grandparents of Columbia, SC Amos and Loubertha Stevenson Sr; loving aunts Kenya Featherston (Jesse), Keisha Green (John), Jemma George, Chereta Sumter (Mike), Cheretta Reese (Pokey); uncle De’Val Rivers, Great uncles Kelvin Riddick, George Cochran, and Edward Cochran; close cousins Elias A.
