Sylvia Newman Scott, 95, passed away in Virginia Beach on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. She was born in Danville, VA to the late Paranough and Esther Newman. She is also predeceased by her husband, James Thomas Scott. Sylvia retired from the Virginia Beach Public School System with over 45 years of service. In her retirement she became an avid bridge player. She was an active member of Suburban Christian Church in Virginia Beach. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Gary Lee Scott (Amy) and Jim Scott; six grandchildren, Curtis Evans Scott, Vincent Scott, Olivia Scott, Elizabeth Peaslee, Matthew Peaslee, and Jennifer Peaslee as well other significant family members and friends.
A visitation will be from 6-8pm, Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Woodlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2pm, Thursday, November 4, 2021 in the funeral home chapel.
