Theodore Peter & Cheryl Anne DeGroff

Cheryl Anne DeGroff entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 7, 2019, and was shortly joined by her husband, Theodore Peter DeGroff, on Sunday, December 8, 2019. Cheryl was born on July 21, 1954 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late James and Nancy Abbott. Theodore was born on September 5, 1951 in Paterson, New Jersey to the late Theodore and Edna DeGroff. They are survived by their wonderful son, Michael. Theodore wishes to express: “These are my words… I am very thankful for the childhood I had both in New Jersey and Florida. I’ve thought of you all often and cherish the wonderful memories. I’ve seen wonderful things, and heard wonderful things through the years. The birds I’ve fed faithfully for over 30 years, the greatest music ever made in my opinion and the voices of those I love. I hope when one leaves this world that memories are allowed on the journey for I would take all of these. I really don’t want a traditional funeral. I’d rather you remember me as the last time you saw me. Alive and hopefully well. Cheryl has told me that funerals are for the living and she can actually do what she thinks necessary, but I don’t see where it’s needed. I’ve never been one for pomp or circumstance. Looking back to my years on the high seas bid me “fair thee well” and “Godspeed” and know that if it’s possible I’ll put in a good work for you. Fear not, cremation will be handled by Woodlawn Funeral Home.”
