July 18, 1934 – September 4, 2025
Thomas L. Baker, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born on July 18, 1934, in Tennessee, Thomas grew up with a strong sense of family and personal values that shaped the man he became. Tennessee was also where he met the love of his life, Lonnie P. Baker, with whom he shared more than 60 years of marriage. They were wed on October 15, 1955, and together raised their son, Dennis, and daughter, Debbie, building a family filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. Lonnie preceded him in death, but their bond remained unbroken.
At just 18 years old, Thomas proudly enlisted in the United States Military in 1952. His more than 20 years of service carried him across the country, where he honorably represented his nation with loyalty, discipline, and courage. His military career was one of his proudest achievements, and he often shared stories of his time in uniform with friends and family.
In his later years, Thomas enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—watching NASCAR races, catching old westerns on TV, and spending time in conversation with friends. Yet, nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by his family. He especially cherished his great-grandchildren, delighting in their laughter, their energy, and the activities they were involved in.
Those who knew Thomas will remember his jovial smile, his kind eyes, and his giving nature. He had a way of making people feel at ease, offering warmth and encouragement without asking for anything in return. His steady presence, wisdom, and humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Thomas is survived by his son, Dennis Baker (Angela), and daughter, Debbie Wade (Tom). He was the proud grandfather of Nichole Nichols (Eric), Amy Hampton (Joe Iriarte), Dakota Baker (Elizabeth Biggers), and Ryan Wade (Heather). He also leaves behind his beloved great-grandchildren: Carson Nichols, Kaiya Hampton, and Olivia Wade.
The family will hold a private ceremony to honor his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice in celebration of Thomas’s memory and the legacy of kindness he leaves behind.
