Thomas "Tim" Eugene Matthews

Thomas “Tim” Matthews, 79, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, in Silver Spring, MD. A native of Norfolk, VA, he was the son of the late Margaret Raines and Hershel E. Matthews. Tim was a dedicated Master Welder for the Norfolk Shipyard until his retirement.

Tim was known for his outgoing personality, sense of humor, and love for people. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cars. Throughout his illness, he channeled his creative spirit into sketching and painting. He also had a profound love for animals, a kindness they always seemed to return.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Angela Rigdon and Sherry Baker; his siblings, Brenda "Teeny" Matthews, Jan Browne (Maurice), and Marci "Gigi" Vanhorn (Steve); his nephew, Ronnie Keeter; as well as a host of other loving family members and friends.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 10:00 am at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk.
