ETCM Thomas Miller Wolszczenski, USN, Retired, 79, of Virginia Beach joined the Lord on July 13, 2021. He is now reunited with his two sons Roger Wolszczenski and David Mayhue; his sister, Jane Kline; his son-in-law, Manny Calayo; and his parents Walter and Anna Wolszczenski, enjoying everlasting life.
Thomas was born in Reading, Pennsylvania July 31, 1941. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy for 32 years from 1959 to 1991. The U.S. Navy became his life-long career with many exciting adventures. He had a deep appreciation for model railroading and railroad history and was a longtime member of the Tidewater Module Railroad Club.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Emily Jean Wolszczenski; a daughter, Tina Calayo; a son, Bruce Mayhue, Jr.; daughter-in-law’s, Jennifer Mayhue and Mary Mayhue; seven loving grandchildren, Jonathan Mayhue, Adam Mayhue, Cheyenne Mayhue, Christian Calayo, Abigail Mayhue, Gabriel Calayo, and Noah Calayo; a great granddaughter, Aleigha Ross; two sisters, Lois Eckhart and Joan Menicucci; two brothers, Edward and Jim Wolszczenski; as well as extended family and friends.
The family would like to give a sincere thank you to Kindred Home and Hospice Care and to all nurses and doctors of Stroke Unit 4B at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital.
Visitation for family and friends will be July 22, 2021, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home located at 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd Norfolk, VA 23502.
A celebration of life will take place at Church of the Ascension, 4853 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462 at 1:00 PM, July 23, 2021.
Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd Norfolk, VA 23502 immediately following his celebration of life.
All are welcome to join the family for a reception following interment at Woodlawn Funeral Home.
