Walter Bordeaux

Walter was born on August 27, 1953. As a grade school kid at Easton Elementary, he was voted by his classmates as “ most likely to succeed “ due to his drive and determination. After Junior High He became a “ Barry Boy “ graduating from James Barry-Robinson High School in Norfolk, Virginia, with the Class of 1971. During his school years, he excelled in athletics as a three-sport athlete, earning recognition in football, basketball, and was the Captain of the baseball team. Walter also went on to play college baseball. His love of competition never faded. For decades, Walter remained an avid softball player, often competing on as many as three teams at the same time, continuing to play into his 70th year. He also enjoyed tennis and looked forward to playing in weekend tournaments.

A skilled craftsman and hardworking businessman, Walter founded Bordeaux Construction in his early twenties. For nearly five decades, he built a reputation for quality workmanship, specializing in home repairs and room additions. His integrity, dedication, and pride in his work earned him the trust and respect of countless clients and friends.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter L. Bordeaux Sr. and Mary Cavadeas Bordeaux.

He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Dodd and her husband, J.D. Dodd; his brother, Jonathan Bordeaux and his wife, Shelley; his nieces and nephew, Carol, Blake, and Sydney; and many cousins on both the Bordeaux and Cavadeas sides of the family. He will also be deeply missed by the many friends, teammates, neighbors, and customers whose lives he touched throughout the years.

Walter lived life with a sense of freedom and optimism. He was a true free spirit who lived by his own rules, never afraid to take a chance or follow a path that others might avoid. He believed tomorrow always held new possibilities and that, somehow, the risks he embraced would ultimately work out in his favor. Whether on a ball field, a tennis court, at a job site, or simply among friends, Walter brought energy, confidence, and enthusiasm for life. His adventurous nature, competitive spirit, and generous heart will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
