

VIRGINIA BEACH - Walter N Eskildsen, Jr passed away at the Atlantic Shore Rehabilitation Center on April 7, 2016 at the age of 69. Walter served in the United States Marine Corps for 22 years, and was a civil servant to the Federal Government for an additional 21. He was an active member St Gregory the Great Church as well as a Knight of Columbus, member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Disabled American Veterans. He was known affectionately as “Walt”, “Honey”, “Uncle Junior”, “Top Ski”, “Dad”, and “Grandpa”. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all those whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his loving wife, Michaelangela “Michie”; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Marylou; daughter, Joy; and grandchildren Cynthia, Hunter, and Lorelei. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Vernice, Marvin and Ida, and Richard and Denise, and many nieces, nephews, and those once removed. He is predeceased by his parents, Walter, Sr and Mabel, and nephew, Jason Eskildsen.
The visitation will be at the Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E Virginia Beach Blvd in Norfolk on Monday, April 11 at 4-7pm. The Funeral Service will be at St Gregory’s Church, 5345 Virginia Beach Blvd in Virginia Beach, on Tuesday, April 12 at 11am. The burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The Eskildsen family would also like to extend our sincerest thanks to Dr G Wilkins Hubbard, Dr Anil Patel, and Dr George Tannous, who provided the best of care even in the worst of times.
