

Born in Chincoteague, Virginia, he was the son of the late William C. and Mary E. Everett.Bobby enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1956, serving 3 years of active duty, followed by several additional years in the U. S. Army Reserves. In 1973, he became a member of the International Longshoreman Association, Local 970, retiring after 25 years. He was proud Longshoreman, loved and respected by all who knew him.
Outside of working, Bobby was a member of Laural Avenue Church of Christ, reciting a prayer each night at his bedside. Bobby was a long time member of the South Norfolk Moose Lodge, serving on the board, as well as volunteering many hours helping the lodge with fund raising. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and Virginia Country Music Association.
Bobby married his wife, Ella Everett, 33 years ago. Together, they shared a love of travel, from camping all over the United States to cruising over warmer waters, making lifelong friends and an abundance of memories. Outside of traveling, they also shared a love of country music and line dancing, and could be found dancing the night away most Saturday nights. Memories that Ella will cherish until they meet again.
Also left to cherish his memory; his daughter, Linda Barnes; his son, Robert Everett (Sue); two step-daughters, Carolyn Petersen (Morie) and Kim Olson (Jimi); grandchildren, Renee Bowman (Daniel), Shelby Ulrich, Stacey Smith (Joe), Randy Petersen, Michael Olson, Cole Everett and Nick Everett, as well as six great grandchildren.
Bobby had a big heart, a smile that always came easy, and who can forget those beautiful blue eyes. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the South Norfolk Moose Lodge #464, 2000 Campostella Road, Chesapeake, VA, 23324.
