His troops were known as Suicide Charlie C-1-7. His jacket hangs in the MacArthur Memorial next to General MacArthur's and he was awarded a Purple Heart. Bill retired with 32 years service from Verizon Telephone Company as a staff manager. In volunteer work he was committed 100% in all his work, Virginia Beach Rehab Center for Head and Heart patients, Church of Ascension and Khedive Shrine Center, and as Bingo caller for fire stations. A Yankee gentleman from Queens, (Rockaway Beach) New York, he appreciated friendships and was full of charisma. He read his Bible every night and was a New York Yankees fan all of his life.
