William D. Kline,

William D. Kline, Sr., 76, passed away Monday, October 18, 2010. William was born on March 10, 1934 to the late William and Ruth Kline, in Portsmouth, VA. He retired from the Norfolk Police Department after 34 years of service. William was a member of the Odd Fellows, Founder of Police Explorer Post in Norfolk, co-founder of Norfolk Police Honor Guard, and a member of the Order of Arrow for Boy Scouts.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Nancy D. Kline; his children Aliceyn Applewhite (John), William D. Kline Jr., Robert Bradley (Ivy), and Kimberly Pesanti (Bruno); his sister Nancy Osborne (Wayne); grandchildren Jessica Ward, Ashley Colwell (Nelson), William D. Kline III, Elizabeth Applewhite, Jayson Young, Tiffany Kline, Shelby Kline, and Sarah Kline; great grandchildren Aidan Ward, Hailey Kline, and P.J. Kline; and seven nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 20, from 6 to 8pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home 6329 Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk. A service will be held Thursday, October 21, at 1:30pm in Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
