

William Lashley Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, and community member, peacefully passed away, leaving behind a legacy of service, strength, and love. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Shirley Lashley, with whom he shared 70 cherished years of marriage.
Born with a deep sense of duty, Mr. Lashley proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he dedicated many years to the United States Postal Service, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues. A proud supporter of higher education and community enrichment, he was an active member of the Norfolk State University Spartan Boosters, always championing the spirit and success of the Spartans.
Mr. Lashley was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1951. A man of deep faith and commitment, he was a member of Calvary Revival Church in Norfolk, VA for over 30 years, where he faithfully served as a Deacon.
William was the proud father of two children: his daughter, Sandra Darlene Jones, and her late husband, Linwood T. Jones; and his son, William Lashley Jr., and his late wife, Joyce Lashley. He was also preceded in death by his dear sister, Gladys Lashley Parham.
He leaves to cherish his memory three grandchildren: Erica D. Jones and her husband Lawrence M. Jones, Katiera L. Jones, and the late Chimere Morton. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Marissa A. Martin, Laila M. Jones, King Hampton, and Kimora Hampton; and his great-great-granddaughter, Lamia A. Jones.
He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom were touched by his kindness, wisdom, and enduring love.
Mr. Lashley will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering devotion to his family, and his enduring commitment to service. He leaves behind a family strengthened by his love and inspired by his example. His life was a testament to honor, resilience, and generosity—a light that will continue to shine through the lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
