Alice Mae Sterling

Alice lived in Noble her entire life where she reared her four children. Alice had a lovely singing voice and sang with the Sweet Adelines for several years. One of her greatest joys was singing in her church choir at the Noble United Methodist Church in Noble. Alice also liked to travel and toured the world with her sister Mildred and her husband, Dr. Kenneth Cooper.

She was a life-long member of the Noble United Methodist Church. She taught Bible school and sang in the choir. She was an active member and strong supporter of her church. She was devoted to Noble High School where she graduated in 1947 and served several years as an officer on the Alumni Board. Alice loved Noble and was proud of its name, “Rose Rock Capital of the World.” She encouraged everyone to attend the annual Rose Rock Festival. One of her treasurers was a quilt made with past Rose Rock t-shirts given to her by her granddaughter, Alicia Cardenas. She was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed OU sports and the Oklahoma Thunder Basketball team.

Alice worked 35 years at Norman Municipal Hospital in many different divisions. She had countless numbers of friends and acquaintances visit her during her last days in the hospital. She was deeply loved by so many and will be greatly missed by all.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 39 years, the love of her life, William Washington “Tubby” Sterling.
