Barbara Lester

Barbara Kathleen Lester was born in Arlington, WA to Ruah and David Helms on December 17, 1947. She grew up loving to fish, hunt, and spend time with family and friends. She loved the water and spent as much time as she could in and out of it; along with spending time hanging out with her niece and nephews; and helping out her parents at their shop, Cordz Battery. Barbara attended Western Washington University until a friendly sailor saw her "waddling" down the hill in the rain earning her the nickname Ducky and the love of her life Tommy Lee Lester.

Barbara spent the first part of her adult years raising her two children, Tammy and Jonathan, and continuing to work in the automotive and small part industry; however, at the age of 45 she returned to school and earned her RN degree and began the next adventurous part of her life. Barbara worked at Norman Regional Hospital for her entire nursing career, until being forced to retire after 22 years, due to a life changing stroke. Barbara continued to enjoy life and her grandchildren until her peaceful death at home on October 31st.

Barbara was preceded in death by both her mother and father, her sister Darlene Harper and her loving husband Tommy Lee Lester. She is survived by her daughter Tammy Burns and her husband James, her son Jonathan Lester, and Tommy Lee Lester Jr. and his wife Melonie. She is also survived by her; grandchildren Justin Burns and his wife Jordan, Ashley Burns, Shelby Weaver and her husband William, Aaron "Bear" Burns, and Nathan Lester. Barbara is also survived by two beautiful great granddaughters, Riley Ann Burns and Amelia Jane Weaver.

Barbara is also survived by many other family members both by, blood and choice that all loved her very much.

A celebration of life for Barbara will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071.
