Bartolo Bruno Talmadge, 81, of Norman, OK, passed away Thursday, January 8 at his home in Norman. He was born August 24, 1933, to Frederick Percy and Mary Delicia (Romero) Talmadge in Sunnyside, Colorado.
Mr. Talmadge was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Mr. Talmadge was a Professional Native American Relic Artist. Known as the “Warrior Artist,” he showed his work at the OU Jacobson House Center and was a featured artist at Tribes Gallery in Norman. Mr. Talmadge had the honor of meeting R. C. Gorman in New Mexico where he did the opening ceremony for Mr. Gorman’s last exhibit.
Mr. Talmadge collected feathers. He enjoyed camping and attending pow-wows with his family when his kids were younger. He was a great storyteller, had a great since of humor and was a great chef.
Mr. Talmadge is survived by his children, Bart Talmadge, Brian Talmadge, Theresa Dressler, Kirk Talmadge, Brennan Talmadge, Beverly Young, Brin Marie Talmadge-Boudreaux, Brett Steven Talmadge, Omar Talmadge, Lily Talmadge, Nina Talmadge; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Martha Diaz, Alfonso Talmadge, Hilda Talmadge, Margie Resendez, Joseph S. Talmadge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 16 years, Emma Talmadge; grandson, Ryan David; three sisters, Lilly Gallegos, Frances Montoya and Gloria Talmadge.
Services are 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 13 at the Primrose Chapel with interment 2:00 PM Tuesday at Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin. Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at Primrose Funeral Service.
