Benjamin “Ben” Henry Willige, 78, of Norman, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on October 4, 2025. He was born on October 9, 1946, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to August William Willige Jr. and Wanda Lee Kennedy.
Ben proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1967, followed by service in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1967 to 1975. He later joined the Oklahoma National Guard 45th Infantry, serving from 1975 to 1994, where he achieved the rank of First Sergeant. His lifelong dedication to service extended beyond the military. Faith and family were at the center of Ben’s life. He was a devoted member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He loved his church community deeply and lived as an example of Christian faith, teaching others to live for the Lord.
On August 3, 1968, Ben married the love of his life, Carolyn. Together they shared 57 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. A perfect day for Ben was 80 degrees and sunny, spent with his grandchildren and dogs, two things that always brought him joy. His favorite color was blue.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn; sons, Jason (Viola) Willige and Justin Willige, both of Norman, Oklahoma; and his brother, August Willige II, also of Norman. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Trey Willige, Tyler Willige, Anthony (Dayne) Adams, Alia Adams, Terry (Beth) Bryant, and Micah Collyar, and an adopted family member, Lecia Adams.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, William Willige and Bob Willige (and wife, Diane); and his sister-in-law, Teresa Willige.
Those who knew Ben will remember him for his steadfast faith, his love for his family and church, and his lifelong commitment to service. His legacy of kindness, devotion, and laughter will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
