

Bobby Vernon Simmons Jr. was born on December 29, 1949, in Purcell, Oklahoma. He was the son of Bobby Vernon Simmons Sr., and Lucy Kay (Watkins) Simmons. He grew up in Noble, Oklahoma, attending Noble Public Schools graduating from Noble High School in 1968. He then furthered his education at the University of Oklahoma receiving his Doctorate of Pharmacy. Following his education he began his career as a pharmacist and later began working for his family’s nursing homes as an administrator for Holiday Heights Nursing Home in Norman, and Senior Village Nursing Home in Blanchard and later became owner. He married Linda Luetkemeyer on February 21, 1981, in Moore, Oklahoma, and they made their home in Washington, Oklahoma. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Norman. He enjoyed skiing, playing horse shoes and they also held fall horse shoe tournaments with their good friends Greg and Donna Martin. He also enjoyed going to the theatre. He loved to cook and his favorite thing in life was being a father and spending time with his family and being active in watching his children play sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Bobby Vernon Simmons Jr., and Lucy Kay Simmons; his beloved grandparents, Frank and Ethel Simmons; and his sister, Angela Fogle.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Simmons of Goldsby, Oklahoma; two sons, Zachary Hale Simmons of Norman, Oklahoma, and Tyler Mark Simmons of San Diego, California; one daughter, Elizabeth Lee Simmons of Seattle Washington; and his brother-in-law and friend, Troy Fogle of Norman.
Wake services will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at 6:30 pm at the Primrose Funeral Service Chapel, with Deacon Richard Montedoro officiating.
Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at 12:00 pm at the Chapel of St. Joseph Catholic Church in the Parish Hall, 421 East Acres Street, Norman, Oklahoma.
